Storage locations

  • When connecting a USB key or hdd.
  1. The location of the USB key or hdd will be at “root filesystem/storage/udisk0”.
  2. It you have a second USB key or hdd it will be at “root filesystem/storage/udisk1
  • The Location of a SD card will be “root filesystem/storage/sdcard0/external_sdcard
  • In Kodi  the location for external drives can be found at video/files/udisk0
  • In Kodi  the location for external drives can be found at video/files/sdcard

Blank Screen on powering on using the remote

  • If you power off the box using the button on the remote while you are in KODI and when you come back and power back up all you have is a blank screen. This is actually sleep mode. This is due to the KODI has crashed in the sleep mode. Press the home button on the remote. This should take you back to the android launcher. Run Advanced task killer to kill all apps. If KODI was in green then you might have to run Advanced task killer a few times.
  • Solution. Exit KODI correct before putting the box into sleep more.

Auto Start KODI on power-up of box

  • Install an Android called AutoStart from the google play store. This will allow you to auto start KODI .

Keyboard shift symbols not working like @

  • This is due to the default keyboard.  Go into the Android setting for Language & input.
  • For “Keyboard and input Methods” Change it to English(US).

How to get rid of onscreen keyboard as I have a real one?

  • Install Android app “Null Keyboard” Then select this as the default keyboard type. See above how to do this.

To turn on Flash support in Dolphin Browser.

  • All you have to do is delete Dolphin’s setting’s preferences file; i.e.,
    /data/data/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser/shared_prefs/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser_preferences.xml

Doing this will cause Dolphin to recreate the preferences file with all the settings reset to their default values except “Flash Player” will be set to “Always On”. Of course, because the settings are reset to their default values, you will need to go through the settings and set them to how you had them set before you deleted the preferences file.

Reset KODI

KODI refuses to start and just jumps back to the main Android screen or you want to Reset KODI

  • If KODI refuses to start and just jumps back to the main Android screen. This could require having the KODI cache deleted. To do this you need to clear the cache and clear the data. In the Android setting for KODI and select “apps”

Find and open the KODI MC in Apps

From here clear the cache and clear the data. Once finished restart KODI . Wait 5-10 minutes for KODI to do updates.  Your KODI will be like its starting for the first time.

You will need to reinstall your ad-dons.

Do Not automatically update the firmware.

  • If the box is set to automatically update the firmware and you update the firmware all your current setting will be deleted. We recommend don’t not have auto update turned on. This can be turned off in the android “update” application.

Factory Reset.

Warning The box will then do a factory reset. You will have to reinstall all Android apps and KODI add-dons.

  • There are two ways to do a factory reset.  One is within the Android OS. The other is via the upgrade button on the bottom ,side or back  next to the HDMI connection or power.
  • best to use toothpick not metal pin. you are less likely to damage unit.
  1.  Via the Android OS
  2.  Via the reset/upgrade button

Via the Android OS

  • Go to the “setting” in the Android OS shown below the red arrow.

Factory reset via the reset/upgrade button.

Note: If your box is stuck trying to load apps do the below

  • To do this you will need a toothpick (preferred) or pen.
  • With the power plug disconnected from the box push in the upgrade button . Plug in the power. Wait 5 seconds. Then release the upgrade button.
  • This will take you in the recovery mode as shown below. If you do not get this screen try again. From here you can reset the box.

  • From here you will do 3 things.
  1. Wipe media,
  2. Wipe cache,
  3. Wipe data/factory reset.
  • At selecting the required wipe you will be presented with the below. Select Yes then you will be returned to the previous screen.

  • Once you have completed the 3 wipes. Select the reboot option. This will go through the factory reset which will include installing the apps.

Error 2: share not available or No results from Browse SMB network.

Sometimes when browsing the network you might get an ‘Error 2: share not available’ or you might get not workgroups showing. Do not be concerned as this can happen on some networks. the solution is to add a network Location directly

6 mygica xbmc atv enjoy tv

The work around for this is to add a network location directly as shown below.

7 mygica xbmc atv enjoy tv

8 mygica xbmc atv enjoy tv

My Server is a Synology DS1813+. The server name is ‘ds1813’ so this is all I add in as shown below.

9 mygica xbmc atv enjoy tv

10 mygica xbmc atv enjoy tv

As you can see the network location has been added. You can now browse this network location and add without using the browse. If you have not provided the correct server name and will give you an error that it could not find location along with a connection refused.

KODI Cache is Full error.

KODI is very customisable and there are various things you can do to improve performance. This will also help when getting the error cache is full. What we need to do is add a cache zero command in a Advanced settings.xml file. This can be done manually but there are a few addons. Mashup is one of those addons.

1: Open Xunity Maintenance. Select tweeks

XBMC_Addons_Cache_Setup_pic1

2:  Select Zero Cache(0)

XBMC_Addons_Cache_Setup_pic33: Once completed you have the below. Restart KODI for changes to take affect.
